The creators of Clarissa Uprooted found that resources about the neighborhood are scattered and/or stored in harder-to-access archives. We were grateful to people in local memory institutions who shared what they had available.

We aim to make this treasure trove more easily accessible via this one-stop archive and “subject guide.” Resources focus on a variety of topics related directly to Clarissa Street and Rochester’s Third Ward. Because these experiences are so reminiscent of other Black communities, including the racist policies they have faced nationally, we include some related resources and projects as well.
